Getting started
Aissence is an AI job search and interview platform. The web app is where you prepare: create interviews, manage your library, review History and debriefs, and handle billing. The desktop app is where sessions run: Go Live next to your call or Start Practice with an AI interviewer. Both talk to the same account, so anything you set up in one shows up in the other.
Sign in on the web, upload your resume in Library, and create an interview with just a role and a company. Then install the desktop app, sign in with the same account, open that interview and start a practice session. The debrief appears in History a short while after you end the session.
Downloads are on the desktop app page and inside the dashboard under Desktop app. Aissence supports Windows and macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel). Sessions cannot start from a browser tab, because the desktop app is what listens to your microphone and meeting audio.
A live session needs access to your microphone and the audio of your call, which only the desktop app can do. The Go Live and Start Practice buttons on an interview page try to open the desktop app straight to that interview. If nothing opens, the app may not be installed yet, so the dialog links to the download page.
Yes. Interviews, your library, History and debriefs are stored on your account and read by both apps. Sessions you run from the desktop app are listed in History on the web, and sessions started from the browser tools can be filed under an interview too.
Interviews
An interview is one role at one company that you are preparing for. It holds the role, company, an optional job description, the resume and materials to use, answer and coding language defaults, and every session and debrief for that role. Create one per opportunity so each has its own context and its own history.
Choose New interview on the Interviews page, then enter a role and a company. Role and company are all that is required. A company detail and a pasted job description make the copilot and the practice interviewer more specific, and you can add them later from Edit.
Overview shows your next focus, patterns from completed reflections, the next interview date, a readiness line and recent sessions. Prep is where you decide what new sessions inherit: the resume, attached materials, playbook and language defaults. Sessions lists every session for the interview, grouped by week.
It records where you are in the process: Active, Interviewing, I got the offer, or Moved on. Choosing Interviewing asks when the next round is, and you can skip that. Moved on archives the interview.
Interviews with a future date appear under Upcoming, soonest first, and show Today, Tomorrow or In N days. Interviews with no future date appear under Current, and a date that has gone by shows Date passed. The Next interview panel on the Interviews page always shows the soonest one.
Archiving is permanent. The interview becomes read-only, it cannot start new sessions, and it moves to the Archived view. Its past sessions and debriefs stay in History. Archive an interview when the process is over, not just paused.
It is a small trend line that appears once an interview has at least two scored sessions. It shows direction over time, not a number or a grade. A single session never draws a line, and no setup or completeness score is shown anywhere.
No. When a session starts, the role, company, job description, resume, material summaries, playbook and languages are frozen into that session. Later edits only affect sessions you start afterwards, and past debriefs keep reflecting what you had at the time.
Library
The Library is one pool of your resumes, materials, playbooks and memory that the copilot can draw on. It belongs to your account, not to a single interview, so you upload something once and attach it wherever it is useful.
Resumes can be PDF or DOCX. Materials can be PDF, DOCX, TXT or MD. Each file can be up to 10 MB, and the file needs selectable text. Scanned images of pages cannot be read, so export a text version first.
In Library, use Attach on a row and tick the interviews it should be used for. You can also do it from an interview's Prep tab. A resume is pinned per interview; if you pin none, the interview uses the resume on your profile. Each row shows which interviews use it, and the small cross detaches it.
After an upload, Aissence reads the text and summarises it so the copilot can use it. Until that finishes, the row shows a dashed Preparing chip. A source can be attached while it prepares, but new sessions cannot use it until preparation is done.
It usually means the file has no selectable text, such as a scan or a photo of a page. Re-export it from the original application as a text-based PDF or DOCX, or choose a different file. Use Try another file to replace it, or Remove to delete it.
Open the More actions menu on its row and choose Rename or Delete. A rename is only a label that is shown instead of the file name; leave it empty to use the original name. Deleting removes it from your account and cannot be undone.
When a resume is ready, Aissence derives a profile from it: name, location, skills, work history, education and projects. Contact details such as email and phone number are deliberately not stored. You cannot edit the profile in the app; to correct something, upload a corrected resume. Only sessions you start afterwards use it.
A playbook is a short set of instructions for how the copilot should answer, such as tone, length or structure. Create your own in Library, then choose it as an interview default in Prep or for a single session in Preflight. With no playbook chosen, the platform default is used.
Memory lists short notes the copilot has learned about you across interviews. You can forget any single line or erase everything at once. Forgetting is permanent.
Using the live Copilot
Open the desktop app, open the interview you are preparing for, and choose Go Live. Preflight shows what the session will use, checks your microphone and audio, and lets you change settings for this session only. Start the session when your call begins.
The live copilot is designed to work alongside video calls such as Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Webex, and coding platforms such as HackerRank and CoderPad, by listening to audio on your computer. For phone calls or in-person interviews, choose Phone or in person as the audio source so it listens through your microphone.
No. The copilot detects the kind of question as it is asked, whether behavioral, coding, system design, case or domain knowledge, and shapes the answer to match. You do not switch modes during the call.
Each interview can have a default answer language and coding language, and you can override either for one session in Preflight. A field set to Account default follows your account setting.
In Preflight, set the audio source to Phone or in person. The copilot then listens through your microphone instead of system audio. Place the phone on speaker near your computer and keep the room quiet for the best results.
Only one live session can run on your account at a time. If one is already active, Go Live is disabled and the app offers Return to session. End the running session first, or return to it.
That depends on the rules that apply to you. Use interview assistance in line with your employer's, the interviewer's, the platform's and any assessment's rules. If a process forbids outside help, do not use live features there; practice sessions are always a safe way to prepare.
Practice
Eight: General, Coding, System Design, Behavioral, Product Case, Data / ML, Salary Negotiation and Recruiter Screen. Pick one when you start practice from an interview.
Open an interview in the desktop app and choose Start Practice, or use Start Practice from the Prep tab or a row menu on the web, which opens the app. Pick a scenario, review Preflight and begin. Every run is attached to the interview so it appears in Sessions and History.
Yes. It uses the interview's role, company, job description, your resume and the materials you attached, so its questions are specific to the opportunity rather than generic.
Re-drill replays the weak spots flagged by your latest debrief, so you can work on the specific answers that need it instead of starting from scratch. The practice configuration is prepared for you.
Screen help and stealth
On demand, it reads what is on your screen and writes a full solution. The results panel shows the written solution next to a short answer you could say aloud. It works on coding problems, diagrams, documents, spreadsheets and error messages.
Auto-capture watches for new problems on your screen so help is ready without asking. It is on by default. You can turn it off in Settings, under Privacy & Stealth, then Screen capture, and use Solve screen only when you want it.
Stealth keeps Aissence's floating windows out of screen sharing and recording where the operating system and the sharing app allow it. It applies to the Cockpit, the results panel and the main window while you are sharing, is on by default, and can be toggled in Settings under Privacy & Stealth.
No. Behavior can vary by operating system version, meeting app and sharing mode, such as sharing a window versus the whole screen. Test it with a quick share before an important call, and never rely on it as a reason to break the rules of an interview.
Audio is captured on your device. Transcription and AI responses use the providers Aissence selects, and data you provide is encrypted in transit and at rest. Read the security and privacy pages for details.
History and debriefs
A debrief is written automatically after a session ends. While it is being written the History row says Writing your debrief and the page updates on its own. There is no button to generate or refresh one.
A headline takeaway, a recommended next step, what stood out, five dimensions (Clarity, Structure, Specificity, Relevance and Role depth), question by question feedback, delivery signals and the transcript. Coding and system design sessions also save the solutions that were written.
Each dimension has a band, Needs work, On track or Ready, and a row of ticks from one to four. Four ticks is the most it shows, because there is always room to improve. A short Next line says what to try.
The session did not include enough of your answers to say anything reliable. Longer sessions with a few real questions and full answers give the debrief more to work with. The session facts and transcript are still available to read.
Not enough interview content means too few interviewer questions or too little speech from you. The other two mean a debrief could not be produced. In each case, open the row for Details: you can still see the Session facts and open the transcript.
Reports from before debriefs existed are still available on the web under Interview Reports. History links there with Open Interview Reports on the web.
Very long sessions are summarised within a fixed input size, so some earlier or long passages may not be reflected in the debrief. The full transcript is always available below the debrief.
Billing
Aissence has a free plan with a limited weekly allowance and paid Unlimited plans billed monthly or every three months, plus a lifetime option. Current prices are always on the pricing page.
You can open the whole app and prepare without a paid plan: create interviews, upload to your library and read History. Starting a session (Go Live or Start Practice) and the paid actions around it need a plan that includes live sessions. If yours does not, Preflight says so and offers See plans or Switch account.
Open Settings, then Billing, on the web. From the desktop app, See plans opens the same billing page in your browser. After you pay, return to the app and choose I've upgraded to re-check your plan.
You may be signed in to the app with a different account than the one you paid with. Check the email shown in Preflight. If it is the wrong one, use Switch account and sign in with the account that has the plan, and the app will pick it up. If the accounts match, choose Refresh payment status.
Refund terms are set out in the refund policy. If something went wrong with a purchase, contact support with your account email and we will look into it.
Troubleshooting
On macOS, open System Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Microphone, and enable Aissence. On Windows, open Settings, then Privacy & security, then Microphone, and allow desktop apps. Restart the session check with Retry checks. If no microphone is listed at all, plug one in or pick a device in your system sound settings.
To hear the other side of a call on this computer, the app needs permission to capture audio. On macOS 14.4 and later, enable Aissence under Privacy & Security, System Audio Recording (older versions may prompt for Screen & System Audio). On Windows, the app captures through loopback audio, so check that the right output device is selected. For a phone or in-person interview, use the Phone or in person source instead.
The app needs screen permission. On macOS, enable Aissence under Privacy & Security, Screen & System Audio Recording, then restart the app. On Windows, accept the screen prompt when it appears. Also check that auto-capture is on in Settings under Privacy & Stealth.
Make sure the desktop app is installed and has been opened at least once. Your browser may ask whether to allow the link to open Aissence; accept it. If it still does nothing, open the app yourself, sign in with the same account and open the interview there.
Use the same sign-in method you use on the web. If you signed in with Google on the web, use Google in the app too. A sign-in window opens in your browser and returns you to the app; if it does not, check that the app is installed and allow the browser to open it. You can also reset your password from the sign-in page.
Most debriefs appear within a couple of minutes. The page checks automatically for about two minutes, then stops; reload it later to see the result. If a debrief never appears, the row will eventually show that it is unavailable, and the session facts and transcript are still there. Contact support if it keeps happening.
Check that the material is attached to the interview in Prep and that it finished preparing; a Preparing or Couldn't prepare label means new sessions cannot use it yet. Also remember a running session keeps the context it started with, so attach materials before you start.
